Culture is the principle of conscious life. If a
state is garden then culture are the flowers by which the garden is decorated.
Visitors recognize the garden by the colors and fragrance of flowers. Nations
identified by their culture. “Desi Culture” adopted by Pakistan is familiar all
over the world. Word Desi recalls food, art, clothes, music festivals and
historical places related to particular nation. In Pakistan people welcomes
western culture as well. However, carnivals and different exhibitions holding
the privilege to preserve the true meaning of
“Desi Culture”.
Pakistan Horticulture Authority (PHA) plays a vital role in arranging
cultural events in different areas of Pakistan. Lahore city enjoys unique
position in arranging many events and exhibitions.
Every year Jillani Park known as Race Course Park arranges spring
festival which gives a great platform to craftsmanship that shows up their
talent. PHA hired labors and other workers to execute the plan of the festival.
Workers come from far areas to set up huge variety of stalls to entertain the
urban people. It is an imitation to rural people as well to relish. It gives
soft image of Pakistan. People entertain themselves by leaving their hard
routines.
Jillani Park arranged this festival on high scale having huge variety of
stalls and accommodates large number of people. The event sponsor viewed this
as an opportunity to provide healthy entertainment. The government can only do
so much.
Hunza handicrafts, Handmade jewelry ceramics, Rug work, Dari sheets,
blue pottery Multan, handmade bags, printing shirts and mugs, beautiful houses,
ships and farmers made up of bamboo, Antique jewelry, Kugu Khoray Multan,
Painted crockery, Organic honey, Vegetable and fruit choppers and sindhi
dresses, sheets and cats are the specialities of the festival. “Desi Food”
depicts Lahori culture includes chicken sajji, Qatlamma, Andrassa, Pathoray,
Golgappay, Paan, Chicken and Mutton Karahi, Chappal Kabab, Sarson ka Saag and
Makai ki roti, Kulfi, Aloo channay, Ladoo pethi and pakoray. Food providers set
up proper sitting arrangements for visitors. Some old trends are also adopted
to create desi environment like chaarpayee and Sahi palang.
Many Professional traders took part in festival. More than 100 stalls
sponsor employmentship to thousands of people but interesting thing they also
participating as worker with a huge number of men. It is a proud moment to see
women empowerment in our country even at small level.
The
Festival has unique charm at evening hours. The light, statues and decorated
plants and trees complete the beauty of the event. The crowd’s peak timings are
6pm-8pm. The models of Minar-e-Pakistan and Mosque were Exceptional. Women
still working at night hours. Live weaving of clothes by a man through wooden
machine was one of the best thing one can ever seen in its life. He was looking
such an experienced person, weaving super fast. There were more stalls at night
including Balochi Chappals, Handmade embroidery dresses, dairy products and
Chaati ki lass. The beauty enhanced with lights and crowd of people.
The
main activities presented by PHA Lahore were opening ceremony Rang-e-Lahore
2015 on 5th March, art and craft festival, Industrial exhibitions,
Canal Mela, Rang-e-Asman (Firework), Lily Parade and closing ceremony on March
23rd
Security
arrangements were highly approved by the administration. Checking poles were
available in the entrance of the park, separately for men and women. Media should
promote these types of carnivals to portray soft and optimistic influence of
Pakistan to world and tries to show strong and everlasting cultural values.
